Our team of educators and creatives work with your community, iwi, hapu, leaders, kaiako and ākonga to co-construct and tailor learning that is designed to enrich your local curriculum by leveraging the power of narrative pedagogies.

Local curriculum integration

Having a rich local curriculum is crucial for providing education that is relevant to the community's needs and values. It helps to create a sense of identity and pride, and prepares ākonga for their future roles in our communities.

Connecting with the community

Building a quality and authentic local curriculum has it's foundation in co-construction. Your community, your whānau. Your people know your stories and the TYS project is an authentic way to engage with the community for a powerful purpose. It builds on and strengthens relationships, it opens doors and lights the fire by which your local curriculum is fueled.

literacy

Having a purpose to talk, read and a purpose to write is critical when ākonga enter the literacy learning space. Having something to say is very important. Through having shared understandings with fellow ākonga, with kaiako, with whānau and the wider community, tamariki and rangatahi have a genuine purpose for engaging in literacy. They know they belong here, they want to share their knowledge and to extend and inquire. When we have increased engagement in literacy, kaiako can get on with the business of teaching the skills of being literate.
